Summer's back and we have already had a few really warm days. Hot days with kids can be a challenge, but with some simple ideas, you will be prepared to face the summer and emerge victorious. Here are a few simple and easy “beat the heat” ideas you can try:
- Limit childern's exposure to sun during afternoon when rays are intense and damaging
- Dress kids in protective clothing, eye gear and hats. Clothing can be an excellent barrier to untraviolet rays.
- Plan indoor activities during the peak hours
- Include liquids in the diet. Buttermilk, lemon water and milkshakes in addition to water is recommended
- Add a slice of watermelon, berries, mango, oranges, lychee, etc in diet to keep kids hydrated through the summer
- Discourage children from moving rapidly when they see insects - movement encourages insects to bite
